Eden Project
Bubbling from the floor of a disused clapypit, some 50m deep, rise the domes of the Eden Project in Bodelva near St Blazey.

Hundreds of clear hexagonal foil panels, each strong enough to support the weight of a man, are honeycombed on a steel lattice support structure. The largest dome has a diameter of 110m and rises 55m high.

The Humid Tropics Biome, the larger of the two, is the world's largest greenhouse. The spray from a waterfall hangs in the hot, humid atmosphere, with moisture dripping from the lush foliage of balsa and mahogany trees, orchids and bamboo.

The second dome, the Warm Temperate Biome, the regions of the Mediterranean, California and southern Africa are reproduced and maintained. Walk through the paths and breathe in the scents of herbs, orange and lemon trees.

    • My husband and I visited the Eden project whilst on holiday in Cornwall last year. It was a great day out and we leisurely walked through both the bio-domes amidst all these wonderful plants.
They really have done a very good job with it and we have free passes to return again within a year of our initial visit.

We would definitely recommend it as a great day out. Perhaps kids might be a little bored however.
