Eastnor castle is a mock castle - it had no military purpose and was built purely on aesthetic grounds. Don't let that put you off visiting though, because Eastnor is an impressive castle.
It was built in 1810 for the princely sum of £85,000 which today would be in the region of £20 million!
It is another example of a "fairytale" castle - it is huge and symmetrical with clover leaf towers at the corners and a battlemented tower in the centre.
