Leeds Castle
A romantic castle, standing on its island surrounded by black swans, Leeds was the favourite retreat for medieval queens of England, including Eleanor of Castile, wife of Edward I. This setting is complimented with an aviary which is filled with colourful parrakeets and cockatoos as well as a maze with an underground grotto.

The maze was constructed in 1988, using 2,400 yew trees but cannot be solved using the traditional "wall follower" technique of keeping one hand on a wall at all times. This is because some of the walls are not connected. This technique will lead visitors in a circle and they will not reach the exit. Be warned!

The state rooms within the castle are still furnished as they would have been during the days of medieval royalty.
