Built with more than a million bricks, Tattershall's formidable six storey great tower rises 34m (110ft) from the flatlands around Coningsby.
Its architect, Ralph Cromwell who fought with Henry V at Agincourt and became treasurer of England, built the tower between 1434-46. It isn't necessarily weaker than stone built counterparts but it is less common a material for Castles in England. Bricks would have been used for aesthetic reasons or because it was fashionable.
Visit Tattershall Castle and you can explore all six floors of this imposing structure from the basement to the battlements where you'll get unsurpassed views from the roof.
