The British museum is world famous, known for its collections and more recently for a part that few people ever saw. norman Foster, in a £100 million development, has transformed the Great Court into Europe's largest covered square. The space could hold 17 Olympic sized swimming pools! The courtyard remained hidden for nearly 150 years and is now enclosed by a soaring glass and steel roof.

With ever changing exhibitions as well as the historic reading room, where minds such as Trotsky, Lenin and Marx studied, the British Museum is a trove of treasures and will occupy you for an entire day.

    • I recently went to the British museum I'm ashamed to say for the Norman Foster connection rather than the exhibitions. Whilst the Great Court is FANTASTIC to say the least, I was equally taken with the exhibitions itself. This place will take up ALL of your day if you let it, there is just so much to see and digest
