Arundel Castle
What stands today as Arundel castle is the creation of successive dukes of Norfolk and earls of Arundel in the 18th and 19th centuries, for the original Norman fortress was largely destroyed during the Civil War.

Nothing can prepare the visitor for the astonishing size and splendour of the interior of Arundel castle. The chambers are breathtaking in scale and magnificence of decoration, including the 40.5m (133ft) long Baronial Hall. This hall contains a library with 10,000 books as well as an oak hammerbeam roof 15m (50ft) high.
